Belvédère I, 2008, concrete, 1200 x 1400 x 620 cm

Permanent installation at the Cemetery of Waterschei, Genk, BE

Belvédère is a work in memory of the deceased who were buried in Waterschei. The black concrete structure serves as a gateway between life and death. Nicolodi drew inspiration from elements of classical architecture. It is a timeless monument that does not focus on any particular religion but symbolizes all the deceased, regardless of their origin, faith, or beliefs. Time and space converge in a massive, motionless form.
